American research centers are interested in studying Islamic political movements. The most prominent Islamic political movements were the Muslims brotherhood, Al-Qaeda and ISIS (the Islamic State). Some of these centers are notably interested in the military and strategic sides of those currents, while others focus on the ideological sides and demonstrated differences between the three currents, whether they were moderates or extremist.

As a result, major differences emerged between points of view and suggestions of decision-making positions about the suitable way to deal with each of them. These differences could be understood in context of circumstances surrounding the centers which constituted its guidelines and opinions, starting with the way of its establishment, sources of financing, relations, ideological and political backgrounds of the centers’ founders. This is what the study tries to clarify and shed light on.
